PTSD, PTSI, & Trauma Services

What is PTSD & PTSI?

PTSD is a mental health disorder that is caused by experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event.   There is no timeline for PTSD – it can manifest shortly after the event or can even be triggered years afterwards.

Symptoms can include flashbacks, nightmares and severe anxiety, and are generally categorized into four types: intrusive memories, avoidance, negative changes in thinking and mood, and changes in physical and emotional reactions.  De-realization especially is a real thing for those who suffering from PSTD, and is a reoccurring dream that feels so alive and intense, clients feel they are having an out of body experience.

There are variations of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and most Mental Health Professionals are aware that taking the word Disorder out is much more effective towards healing.

Thus, we are changing our language from PTSD to PTSI – Post Traumatic Stress Injury.
